Starting Over

Reported by Merry Moments (Dated Jan 2001)

During one of my trips to the Tavern, a herd of unusual ponies were spotted. They claimed they are Non So-Soft (NSS) ponies. The following are the stories behind some of these NSS ponies:

Non So-Soft Ponies

NSS Hippity Hop

"This little beauty was found here at the local flea mart 3 years back. She had brittle fur that came off easily and faded hair. She went for de-flocking and had her body glue removed. Her mane was re-rooted with new hair that was donated by a CF Snuzzle with stained body."

NSS Ribbon with NBBE Baby Ribbon

"This former SS lady suffered from brittle fur syndrome that made her itch all over and the only cure was to become a NSS pony. Today, she is a happy mother pony with her very own NBBE baby. All the other little ponies agree that she looks more gorgeous than her previous SS look."

NSS Best Wishes

"Best Wishes was a sorry looking pony without more than half her fur. She was a regretted purchase and attempts to sell her failed. Prospective buyers looked down on her bald patches. Today, she has become the legendary 'swan princess' after suffering mockery as 'the ugly duckling'."

NSS Bangles with Li'l Cupcake

"Here we have another former SS pony who benefited from a de-flocking session. She had lost half her fur when she was rescued from a flea mart toy bin 3  years ago. NSS Bangles is currently a happy foster mother to Li'l Cupcake who has no idea who and where her mother is. Nevertheless, Li'l Cupcake does bear a striking resemblance to her foster mother."

In Feb 2001, another pony joined the NSS herd......

Why it's NSS Lofty!

"Every NSS pony here had a sad past. Lofty was picked up from the flea market and she had a common SS pony ailment - brown brittle fur. No amount of scrubbing could restore her coat to its former yellow brilliance and her fur dropped easily. Hence, she walked down the inevitable path of becoming a NSS pony. She spent a mere 2 days in despair before transforming into a stunning beauty. She has no regrets over discarding her fur for good."

And yet another NSS Pony came along in Mar 2001......

NSS Bouncy

"Bouncy turned out to be very beautiful after turning NSS but she suffered the most during the whole process. The glue on her body was extremely stubborn and it made Wiggles resort to using boiling water to weaken it. He even posted the whole de-gluing process as a story to the pony mailing list. Bouncy survived through it and has already put the past behind her. She now spends her days tending to her Baby Bouncy who just grew her first tooth!"

Then a So-Soft pony with a variant coat was also seen at the Tavern......

Color Changing Ponies

Brown SS Buttons

Rumours "There were rumours that some ponies love to drink coffee and having consumed so much over the years, their coats acquired this mocha colour. SS ponies are especially vulnerable to such side effects. Here, we have coffee-loving brown SS Buttons to show us her new coat colour as compared to her original one."

Fact "The truth behind this 'mocha phenomenon' is that the glue under the fur tends to discolour with age. Most de-flocked SS ponies look brownish after de-flocking and before the glue is removed. So far all the 3 SS Buttons found in Singapore are brown in colour."

(One is up for trade/sale, Oops!......It was sold......)

Acknowledgements:

"Hippity Hop and Bangles were de-flocked mainly by Magic Star. Ribbon and Best Wishes were done by her good friend, Wiggles. He also removed the glue from all the 4 ponies and re-rooted new hair for Hippity Hop and Best Wishes. Many thanks to him for his help in giving these ponies a new life."

"Lofty was de-flocked and de-glued completely by Magic Star."

"Bouncy was de-flocked and de-glued completely by Wiggles."
