Come To Where The Magic Is......My Little Pony Collector's Webpage - Magic Star's Tavern!

So Soft Meadows

So-Soft Ponies I

The emerald So-Soft Meadows surround the Tavern. The lush greenery is dotted with daisies and dandelions whose feathery seeds float in the sweet breeze that blows across the fields. This is where the So-Soft Ponies choose to hang out whenever they come to the Tavern. The earth ponies would gallop freely on the grass, pretending that they are the queens of the wind. The unicorns dance to the music of the birds and butterflies, and prance to the rhythm of the swaying flowers. The pegasus ponies on the other hand, would soar high up to the skies above to bounce and play on the cotton-like clouds. Ahh, a lovely sight indeed......

Perhaps Hasbro must have thought that rubber ponies were just too fake to replicate the feeling of patting real life ponies so they designed and made the So-Soft Ponies. SS Ponies do look odd at first sight, especially when one is used to the first few years of rubber plastic ponies. But upon cuddling these softies, one would realise that they do feel soft and nice, as if cradling a real pet! That is if they managed to stay abuse-free and retain all or rather most of their fur after all these long hard years :)

Let us meet the first batch of SS Ponies:

So-Soft Ponies II

Reacting to the initial success and popularity of flocked ponies, another set quickly followed up the conquest of the toy market. This set of ponies did not appear in the MLP series so the characters were not well known. But it seemed that Hasbro's main aim was to cash in on the success of the SS phenomenon then. Here they are:

From left: Scrumptious, Fifi and Twist.

From left: Skippity Doo (not shown), Hippity Hop and Bouncy.

So-Soft Ponies III

This last set was the most obscure of the SS Ponies and their fur was much thinner than their predecessors, making them less cuddly and their fur more prone to rubbings. Maybe thinner fur allow the colors to stand out more and symbols of the ponies to be seen more clearly. Nevertheless, these ponies still have their own brand of unique charm. Voila!

From left: Angel, Crumpet and Taffy.

From left: Bangles, Twilight and Hippity Hop (Magenta variant).
