Come To Where The Magic Is......My Little Pony Collector's Webpage - Magic Star's Tavern!
Across the Borders
After meeting the adult ponies, let's move on to play with some adorable baby ponies! Like their American counterparts, they originally came as babies of existing adults but were later released as baby ponies with themes such as school time (sounds familiar?) and even astrology!
Early UK Baby Ponies They were never released in the US and hence became one of the most sought after foreign ponies during the beginning stage of many MLP collectors. Today they are a must-have if you consider yourself a collector of UK baby ponies. From left: Baby Bowtie, Baby Applejack, Baby Lemon Drop and Baby Lemon Drop (European variant).
NBBE Baby Ponies These are variants to those horrendous BBE baby ponies sold in the US and Singapore. Many collectors felt that BBEs should never have been made so as to spare everyone the agony of looking at their bulging fake eyes. So naturally upon learning the existence of the NBBE versions, many collectors were willing to pay generously for them. But with the introduction of German ebay, this alternative source has somehow contributed to a slight price drop for the past year or so. Too bad that only 4 of those 6 BBE babies were reproduced as NBBE babes! From left: Baby Lickety-Split, Baby Ribbon, Baby Gusty and Baby Heart Throb.
School Time Babies Miniature versions of the adult school time ponies. We suspect that Hasbro might had wanted to use ponies to make kids more interested in school just like the little ponies seemingly did, or they didn't? Well you decide. From left: Baby Alphabet, Baby Pictures, Baby Count-a-lot and Baby Schoolbag.
Starlight Babies This theme must have been thought up in the name of science or to promote astrology as an interesting or intriguing subject to study. The idea is nice and color schemes are quite ok, definitely a vast improvement of the US Starlight Babies whose 'unoriginal' names did not suit their symbols at all. From left: Baby Stella, Baby Night Song, Baby Explorer and Baby Mischief.
Best Friends Babies Each of them came with a cute little baby animal friend that matched their symbols. Those little pals (a puppy, a kitten and a baby rabbit) are extremely rare and I have yet to find one. But for the time being, these baby ponies still have each other for company. From left: Baby Susie, Baby Katie, and Baby Billie.
Seaside Baby Baby Splosh is the only one of her kind that I have come across so far and needless to say, she is one of the most treasured members of my baby pony herd. Too bad she lost her little float, or else I would bring her to the Glittery Coasts to join the Baby Sea Ponies for a swim! Baby Splosh
